An author goes back to the place where she took the first writing workshop that led to her debut novel… many years later!
During my recent trip to NYC, I took the train to the nearby town of Sleepy Hollow, situated on the Hudson River. When I stepped off the train, I saw the beautiful old Tudor-style building that houses the Hudson Valley Writers Center, where I took a full-day workshop with the fabulous author and writing instructor, Mary Carroll Moore, in 2006. The seeds of what would become my debut novel were born! But, I put that aside as I focused on writing and publishing nonfiction books and articles for many years.
In 2016, a decade later, I picked up my journal and notes from that first workshop and decided to go all in! What a thrill to be back at that exact spot where the kernel of EVERYTHING WE THOUGHT WAS TRUE was originally conceived. Can’t wait for it to be published in 3 months on January 27, 2025.
A full-circle moment!
