Oh this book! It was absolutely amazing. I loved the two point of view characters, two sisters separated by distance, literally and physically. I loved the two settings, Northern California and New Zealand. I loved the romantic interest, Javier Velez. I may be in love with his character! I loved the family secrets that are slowly unfurled in flashbacks. But most of all, I loved the writing. Absolutely exquisite. Luscious, atmospheric, masterful. I own a copy of this book and marked it up almost like I was taking a master class in writing. And I already miss the book, which is always the best sign for me of a fantastic read.
