Really enjoyed this book! I listened to it on audio while I was traveling in Burgundy. It was the perfect companion to my trip! It is dual timeline historical fiction, with the modern day story about a woman studying for her Master of Wine exam who goes to help her family vineyard during le vendangé and discovers family secrets from WWII. Well researched with fascinating (and sad) parts of history, including the women who were accused of being collaborators (referred to as femme tondue or shaven women) during the Nazi occupation of France. I really liked this author’s writing style and went on to read her more recently published book, Jacqueline in Paris, a fictionalized telling of Jacqueline Bouvier’s year studying abroad in Paris. Review of that book coming next issue. (Yes, I am clearly on a France/Paris reading kick!)
