What a fantastic book! It is exquisitely written with very visual descriptions that let me see the book as it was unfolding. (I can see why they decided to make this into a movie between the plot, the setting and the descriptions.) The plot is unique, interesting, heartbreaking, sad, and beautiful. It is about a couple on a remote island in Australia who take care of a lighthouse and have struggled to have a child for years but keep unfortunately having miscarriages. One day, a boat washes up on shore with a dead man in it and a baby that is alive. From there, the story unfolds and is riveting, heartbreaking, and very very interesting. I think it is one of those books that will stay with me for a long time.
