I loved this book! It is historical fiction, mostly taking place in the 1920s, but then moving forward in time until about 1970. A fascinating fictional depiction of a chaperone from Wichita, Kansas, that accompanied the silent film actress Louise Brooks to New York City in 1922 before Ms. Brooks became famous.
I not only loved the time period, but the character development. The characters were developed so deeply and were so complex. There were some interesting surprises along the way that appealed to me even more about this particular cast of characters. And the protagonist, a woman known by many names — Cora X, Cora Kaufman, Cora Carlisle — will stick with me for a long time. Highly recommend!
