by Tara Westover

What a powerful memoir! It really drives home the message that when we educate ourselves in any way, we change who we are, not just what we learn. Tara Westover learned that the small snapshot of the world that was provided to her by her family was not only inaccurate, but limiting and dangerous. She did something many people don’t have the strength to do… she left behind her old life and created a new one, at the expense of her relationships with those she loved the most. She put her sanity, her mind, her independence, her future, her world outlook, her humanity… HERSELF, above everything else. Not an easy feat! She truly became educated in big and small ways. And then she shared that experience with us. Brava to her.
