by David Sedaris
He’s done it again! Any time I want to laugh out loud, I listen to a David Sedaris book. He is the king of nonfiction humor writing in my opinion. He reads his audiobooks himself and his voice alone, with its inflections and spot-on delivery, makes me chuckle. Then you add on the humorous content and it’s a winning combination.
This particular book deals with some weightier subjects than his previous ones in some ways. Although all of his books shine a spotlight on his upbringing and family life, this one in particular covers his relationship with his live partner, aging, his mother’s alcoholism, his sister’s death by suicide, and family disagreements over politics. Yet, even with that subject matter, there are mostly laugh out loud anecdotes sprinkled with some touching moments here and there. Highly recommend!
