I enjoyed this one! It was women’s fiction with strong elements of family drama. The setting is Santa Cruz, California. And the set up is that the protagonist, Natalie, gets a phone call that her estranged mother has passed away, and she needs to head back to her childhood home to meet up with her siblings in order to inherit the family homestead. The catch? She hasn’t seen her siblings in many many years since actions that she took wound up resulting in them doing jail time. Uh oh! The pacing is good, the setting is interesting, the characters are well developed, and the themes of betrayal, forgiveness, and family baggage and bonds are strong.
Oh, and there’s also a love interest thrown in there for Natalie, who I happened to have a bit of a crush on. Just saying! 😂
