Wow! I found this book fascinating. It’s not something I think I would have been eager to pick up and read on my own so I’m glad it was chosen by my new book club.

The author obviously put a ton of research into this book and it shows! The book deals with Japanese pop culture, Zen Buddhism, World War II, quantum physics, teenage angst, suicide, writing and more!! And yet, it flows well and doesn’t feel disjointed or confusing. It is mind blowing at times but I liked the way it played with the concept of time. It is often brutal in its depiction of life’s sad realities, while remaining uplifting and hopeful.

Truly enjoyed this and think it will stay with me.
