About Lisa Montanaro

I am the author of The Ultimate Life Organizer: An Interactive Guide to a Simpler, Less Stressful & More Organized Life, published by Peter Pauper Press in 2011. My debut novel, Everything We Thought Was True, is slated to be released by Red Adept Publishing in fall 2024. I have a life-long love affair with storytelling and the written word. When I'm not writing, I'm reading books... it's my favorite hobby!!

It’s Been a Great Ride (Pun Intended!)

Lisa and Maria Conterars Tebbutt For the past 4 years, I got to be "the voice" of the Bike Campaign as their feature writer. It has been an absolute pleasure to interview people and organizations in the community, highlight the benefits and joys of riding, and be a part of the wonderful bike-friendly movement. However, I have now passed the baton to my friend PJ Thompson so I can focus on my fiction writing as [...]

Progress on my Debut Novel Publication: I Got Assigned my Editor!!

Progress on the publication of my debut novel! I got assigned my content editor by my publisher and I’m thrilled to be working with her. She has an awesome background, believes in this book, connects with the three point of view characters, and has ideas to make the manuscript even stronger. We are having a lengthy phone chat (which I'm sure will be the first of many) to go over her feedback and then I [...]

In Memoriam: Remembering the High School English Teacher Who Influenced my Love of Literature & Writing

Yesterday, I learned the sad news that my high school English teacher, Joseph McLaughlin, passed away. I was devastated, and even all these years later, burst into tears immediately upon hearing the news. All of a sudden I was back in 12th grade sitting in his class, learning Shakespeare, studying the song lyrics of Bob Dylan and the Beatles, and solidifying my love of language and literature, which has stayed with me to this day. [...]

Let’s Go Dutch! Being Inspired by the Bike Culture in the Netherlands

I was so excited to have a recent article I published, “Let’s Go Dutch! Being Inspired by the Bike Culture in the Netherlands” quoted and tweeted by the Dutch Cycling Assembly. Woot! What a wonderful surprise. And I love that they used photos I took in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.  Here's a link to the article online. But because it’s one of my faves, I'm including the entire piece below as a blog post. Hope it inspires you [...]

Low Down for Writers from a Literary Agent:

A Conversation with Literary Agent Nikki Terpilowski of Holloway Literary for Women’s Fiction Day On June 8, 2020, I had the pleasure of interviewing literary agent Nikki Terpilowski of Holloway Literary for the Women’s Fiction Day events hosted by the Women’s Fiction Writers Association (WFWA). What a treat! It’s not everyday that you get to spend quality time with a literary agent and get a glimpse into their unique corner of the publishing industry. During [...]

La Dolce Far Niente ~ The Sweetness of Doing Nothing

The Italians have a phrase that I’ve always loved: La Dolce Far Niente — the sweetness of doing nothing. It refers to the pastime of languishing happily, letting the world pass by while you relax, savor, and soak it in. It sounds so decadent. And most of us crave it, but don’t always let ourselves enjoy it. I’m just as guilty as the next person. As a productivity consultant by training, I pride myself on getting a lot done. I track my project [...]
